Who is GRU?

The abbreviation of “GRU'' is Glavnoye (Chief) Razvedivatelnoye (Intelligence) Upravlenie (Control). That means Gru is representing the character of Chief Intelligence Officer of the Russian Military Force. Russia has developed so many intelligence agencies to protect the country. The main ambition of Gru is to gather Military Intelligence who are naturally more political and technological. Gru mainly collects critical information and the officers perform secret influencing operations.

Gru is a fiendish villain character of Despicable me series and his father was also a villain named Robert Gru (02/08/1943 to 03/05/2005) and he was also known as Bald Terror.

Gru’s twin brother Dru was also a supervillain and his long lost brother.

In the first installment of Despicable Me series we noticed that Gru was a supervillain and he wanted to be the greatest villain of the Universe. But after marrying Lucy and adopting three girls as his daughter, Gru became a good person and left his evil deeds forever. Then he joined as a secret agent of the Anti Villain League with his beloved wife Lucy.
